Epic lost $2 billion because of piracy?

Game PiracyCEO of Crytek, Cevat Yerly, was told by Epic at the 2008 Game Developers Conference that Epic has lost close to $2 billion in revenue because of game piracy. Sorry Yerly, but thats wrong. To loose money, you have to have it first. The gaming industry in the United States does $18 billion a year. You honestly think your game, UT3, would have made up 11% of that? Second, Epic claims to have received more than 40 million illegal key requests. What did your father tell you as a kid. If you fail, try again. Forty million key requests does not mean 40 million unique gamers. You released the game in Nov. of 2007 and in March have sold just over 1 million copies. Piracy might be putting a dent in your revenue, but not $1.95 billion worth. I am not condoning game piracy, but just stating the obvious.

Still 40,000,000 * $50 = 200,000,000 or 200 million not anywhere close to 2 billion in sales. I am now not even going to consider buying UT3 even when it is in the bargain bin thanks to epics tomfoolery.

40 millions players, so with they have at least 1% of it playing, the original game ????

Way the servers are near empty. For a new game has less than a 1000 world wide players; this is not good.
