lo all,

i made a skybox from the tutorial on this forum. and made a map and some spawns, but when i spawn i spawn on the bottom brush of the skybox and not on the ground of my map. and yes the spawn is on the ground level of the map

I would assume you are using a ground texture that is non-solid and ment to be used in combo with another ground texture for alpha blending.

These non-solid textures are identified with white boxes around them.

Where you see the textures. Bottom right in the CoDR is the standard location.

use ambient lighting
for example (you can change the values but need those 2 keys):

key: ambient -> value: 0.30
key: _color -> value: .4 .6 .9

in addition to that, make sure you have the other worldspawn values in place

to have light you only have to use those 2. if you want sunlight with it you can use: key: sunlight -> value: 0.50 or something like that

i was under the impression that ambient lighting is used to lighten up areas that aren't otherwise lit?
...i assume, unless your entire map is indoors/underground, that a sunlight value should be used?

not necesary but if it's outdoor, it's way more realistic otherwise you don't have any shadows etc
