More than 1 Skybox

I am in the progress of rereleasing a map. I a problem I want to resolve is having more than one outdoor area with a different sky. As it is now, you can see one sky in from the other area. Can this be fixed, I'm sure it can since SP maps have more than one sky I believe.

vis_leafgroup

If you use two giant vis_leafgroup brushes, they can hide eachother from view. They just have to target eachother.

I tried that... the two that lets you see the other are set as having a target: V1

The part that I don't want visable has targetname: V1

All brushes are with the vis texture and are vis leafgroups. But in one outdoor area i can still see the sky from the other. Is having leaks in either or both skyboxes going to prevent the leafgroups from working correctly?

leaks

Well, you shouldn't have leaks in any of your skyboxes. But, any brushes that are completly inside a targeted vis_leafgroup brush should vanish while standing in the targeting vis_leafgroup brush.

I tried it in a test map and vis brushes worked fine, but I could also not see the the other skybox even without vis_leafgroup brushes. So, your whole problem may just be the leaking skyboxes.

Try putting caulk boxes around your sky boxes--to stop the leaking. Even if the vis brushes are not needed to hide skyboxes, using them will improve the FPS of your map.

Ok I made nice big caulk sky boxes around the regular skyboxes. I had to make them fit up against the building because the openings are not regular. I can still see the blasted sky of a sunset in the area that's supposed to be a gray winter. The picture shows looking from the top of one skybox to the other one thats on the end of the subpen. You can't see the caulk box surrounding it completely. Beats me why radiant won't draw very far in large shots.

I can't tell what you are trying to do. I will need to see the ".map" file. My msn messenger contact name is "tltrude", if you have that.

From the posted image it looks like there are 2 sides open on the sky box we can see,if so they should be sealed?
If you are only seeing out from the bunker you can reduce the sky box size but make sure the sky box wraps around the building without leaks.

The side that is missing is where the subpen on the end of the building is. Its irregular and I didn't take the time to fit a side to the building. You cannot see the caulkskybox covering the partial box that is highlighted. I cannot surround the building because the other entrances I want to have another sky texture as its not a water scene but a winter gray overcast.
