Our server only got your server as getstatus, we didnt send anything to that. And our server didnt do DDOS attacks to gameservers only webservers and that happened 2 times now it has been fixed
@ Doorman: attack is written with a k. Unfortunately I'm kinda busy and our servers are not doing so well (not because of the attacks but because of some nooby copy cats), so I didn't have time yet to try the newest version. Will do soon!
I've installed 3.3 last night an since then I only have 2 players in..server used to be 15-20 players usually! A friend told me that he cannot see my server with xfire and in server browser list!! I used the default configuration that comes with GsProtector. What can i do? Can it be cause of GsP??
what type of server ? IP of your server ? and I need your GsP logs Can you see your own server in server list and xfire ?
Doorman excellent program, good job, I install it and test flood and it work good, it ban me (when i want join to server i have timeout). All is good. Thank You
It's a rented window based server, I run a tdm and IP is 62.149.210.94 on port 12203. I can see and connect to it without problems but dunno about xfire coz I don't use it!
Added your server to my HLSW, no probs here, and your server is a spearhead server ==> you need to change the GameType to 1 in the GsProtector_Host.ini file so that Breakthrough players can connect to your server. Gametype setting shouldnt affect however that the server is seen or not seen in browser lists. Maybe your server gets many queries or is under attac by random IP's (in that case the attacker can't be banned by IP) than you can try to raise the values that limit the queries: MaxQueriesPerSec=50 MaxRconPerSec=10 MaxConnectPerSec=10 to higher values like e.g. MaxQueriesPerSec=200 or higher , just try. Check also if your friend isn't on the banlist. And the logs form GsP would be nice to have a look into: info@scapp.net
@ Silent Angel that can be a problem if you don't setup Game type 1 but only for the players who use Breakthrough for playing on Spearhead servers. I have that patch on both servers TDM is full all the day and no problem with it. PS. I saw in Your rotation first map is custom stalingrad_snow2 obj maybe that is the problem for the players who dont have that map to connect or You just change the name for normal stalingrad map !!!
Oh yes the problem was Gametype set to 0!! ty man! @ordever the fact that I'm running stalingrad snow 2 does affect a little but not so much because lots of our usual players has downloaded the map pack. The fact itself to run a custom map affect players who are not use to play on a server everyday..that's a problem but everyone seems to like this map and they don't want it to be removed! lol
released new version 3.4 - preview - : http://www.scapp.net/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;download=32 this version is meant only for testers !! dont use on your public server - better performance - minor fixes here and there - IP bans (capacity 50,000) - IP range bans (capacity 2,000) - Rcon commands: reload bans, reset settings to default p.s. I like the smilies on this site p.s.s. If well tested and no-one has more ideas this version is final then.
I've put 3.3 on the server and will report you what I see. What about those whitelists? It would be handy if we could add some IPs to a config file. For example I want to add my webserver to the whitelist of getstatus queries. Now I would have to type it every time via rcon?
use latest version which is 3.4 atm please. The whitelist are exclusive lists, means if turned on only those IP's on those lists will receive a response. I think better for you would be to lower the Antiflood values to e.g. 5 queries per second and put your webserver IP on Immunelist to ensure gets always a response. Might think about to add those config files you are talking about, however rcon is mainly meant to act as an interface for external tools. External tools would then maintain those lists and communicate via rcon with the tool.
You said we shouldnt use 3.4 on public servers yet. Ah wait, can I add an IP to the immunelist by server.cfg? Other questions: My root server has more than one IP. But in the ini file I can just add the port of the servers. What does it ban in the firewall in my case? Is localhost always allowed or can it be banned as well?
yes, not the preview version of 3.4 but its updated and beta meanwhile no, dont think that will work, I will add a immunelist.txt file in next version though, you can add your IPs there. Depends on operating system: in win2008/win7/vista it will ban only traffic from that IP to the port you have set. Example: You running 2 servers on port 12203 and 12204. You issue ban on 12203 then the IP is only banned for 12203 server. On previous OS it will ban traffic from that IP to the entire port range. It should be independant from the IP's your root server has as those firewall bans handle incoming traffic. (Havent test that though) In GsProtector localhost can be banned, in the firewall not though (not on win2008/win7, havent tested on 2003).
