There was an issue with the file format for animations sometime ago. That's good news. I guess the only possible hurdle left in using the ET engine would be getting enough people who are interested in working with it for a mod. It has a decent sized player base that seems to be growing, with a good ratio of players to servers. Can't ask for much more than that.
I's really exited about this mod. I can't wait untill we can accualy see some work, but that will be a while. So am I right, This will be like a Complete game? (with little desktop icon maybe?)
It will be as good as the people we get can make it. I'm a good mapper and texture artist and know my way around Q3 engines pretty well. But, there's a lot I don't know how to do.
Well, It's a new game to me, but belive me, I will give it my all. I want to accualy realease something good for once. And if you can give me textures I can put them in maps for you, I can't do textures I don't think.(That is after we get custom to this game)
New Ideas for Mayhem. Well I know you have a few maps planned and that you have been busy on HitP 2.0 but what I know is that for maps we have... -A Modern day shopping mall in florida. -A Tuscan Village in 1920's -A wooded Forest in 1100 AD -And an Urban City in about 2300 AD Personaly I think i'd be better of with either the mall or the tuscan village. Just if you have any details, tell me and I will add them under the maps here.
Has this mod made any progress yet? It's a good idea. It does need a team play gametype other than TDM though, because it won't be played in ladders without one, and no ladders means less clans, and less clans means less servers, and less servers means less players. I played ET some tonight. It could be good with new animations and sounds, but for now, both suck real hard.
I want to make the "Mayhem" gameplay mode work for up to 4 teams. The gameplay lends itself to teamplay and strategy a lot more than you think. Plus, the strategy has to keep changing. You can't use the same tactics always. In any case, I'm not trying to attract clans. They are notorious for playing nothing but stock maps, over and over and over, until they know the maps in their sleep. The variety of settings, weapons and strategy would not appeal to clans. Trying to make a mod that appeals to clans is foolhardy. I'm aiming for the "pubbers", where variety is welcome and 3 or 4 players is all it takes to have some fun.
Enemy Terrritory. Well, I Plated Enemy Territory the other night and I thought it was cool, still has some hackers but for the most part fun. What I disliked is that there is only one death animation...That made me mad. There is only one basic Machine gun, the thompson. All other weapons suck. Sucky weapons sounds close up. But what I did like is that Sounds in the distant and weapons going off far away sounded great! And I loved the rank system of when you hit the enemy you get expirience and you rank goes up after a while and you get Premoted to Different ranks. But to tell you the truth, I can't stop thinking about the Price of Peace mod for it. The screen shots and movies of that mod interest me more that playing Enemy Territory itself. I can't wait for this to come out. And are we going to use that new version of GTK Radiant for this? I haven't got a chance to get level editor for the game yet, And didn't you say it comes with Enemy Territory in the Download? And is whitch one is better, or is it just a Updated GTK Radiant? Also, can you please give me a list of every one you know that is going to help with this game, and what there doing? Please and Thank you. :beers:
GTK Radiant is all you need. I can't give you a list of who is helping. I don't know. I really need a coder first.
I'd like to help, but all I can offer is skinning. I've got Gmax and made one model from a tutorial, but I don't modeling skill of game-caliber. It appears to me that most of the information for ET is compiled in the source code (as apposed to weapon attributes, scopes, small bits of code, etc in paks like with mohaa), so experienced coders will be a must.
Sorry for bringing this back if it's dead. Would anyone mind if I made a mohAA mod using basic principles of this mod idea? I know it has been said it is impossible to do for moh but I simply do not agree - only interested in doing a script I'm by no means a moddeler or mapper so it will be a mod for existing maps/models. I'll take no reply as consent....
hmm it seems to be possible to me. I kinda tried a gametype like this but instead of every kill for a player i did a certain score per team that let them upgrade a weapon, was for stock maps, ya i think this is probably very possilbe with moh, gl with it
well I've done what seems a reliable system for detecting kills (not using triggers). only works for guns though (not projectiles) but even so there are 10 weapons that shoot bullets in AA alone.
