    not looking good.... just in from Blackhat.
    So the current status of the Dedicated Server and Patch is that it’s still in clearance. I don’t think it’ll be out by next week as we’d hoped, but instead some time the week after. We want to get it to you as soon as we can, but we also want to make sure it’s working as expected. What I do have for you going into this weekend are the readme files for the patch and the dedicated server. I’m sure there are some things you wanted in this patch that you won’t see on the list, but that doesn’t mean we’ve dropped them. Much of this patch was started before we even shipped the game. We still have a list of items we’re pursuing based on your feedback, and I will get you more information on those as soon as it’s available. The focus for this patch was getting dedicated server functionality up and running.

    Medal Of Honor Airborne™ Dedicated Server
    Readme File
    Version 1.1
    August 2007

    ***************************************************************************

    This document contains information about setting up and running the
    Medal Of Honor Airborne Dedicated Server as well as information about
    administrating it remotely.

    ***************************************************************************

    TABLE OF CONTENTS

    I. System Requirements
    II. Local Server Setup
    III. Remote Server Setup
    IV. Running The Server
    V. Administrating Remotely
    VI. Server Commands
    VII. Credits

    I. System Requirements
    ===========================================================================

    The following items are required to run a Medal Of Honor Airborne
    dedicated server:

    1. A broadband Internet connection or LAN connection.
    2. A system that meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements
    for the game.
    3. The game successfully installed on the target computer.

    II. Local Server Setup
    ===========================================================================

    To set up a server locally or remotely using VNC, follow these steps:

    1. Run the dedicated server launcher (DSLauncher.exe)
    2. In the 'Basic' tab, enter the username and password you registered
    with EA. (If you have not created an account: run the game, in the
    main menu choose 'Multiplayer', and click 'Create Account').
    3. In the 'Miscellaneous' tab, enter the port you wish to run your
    server on as well as the password to administrate it remotely.
    4. In the 'Map Rotation' tab, add at least one map to your rotation
    by selecting the map name and pressing the 'Add' button.
    5. Configure any other options you wish to set.
    6. Save your config file using File>Save to the default MOHA config
    folder: "My Documents\EA Games\Medal of Honor Airborne(tm)\Config".

    You can open and save multiple dedicated server configurations. The
    configuration that is currently open is the one that will be
    launched.

    NOTE: The first time you run the launcher, it should generate two
    config files: MOHAGameTypes.ini and MOHAMaps.ini in the MOHA config
    folder. These files are necessary for the dedicated server to run
    properly and should only be modified by advanced users.

    III. Remote Server Setup
    ===========================================================================

    To set up a server remotely (where you do not have physical access to
    the computer or VNC), follow these steps:

    1. Run the dedicated server launcher (DSLauncher.exe) locally.
    6. Save your config file using File>Save.
    7. Copy your saved config file (MOHADedicatedServer.ini by default),
    MOHAGameTypes.ini and MOHAMaps.ini (which can be found in your
    MOHA config folder) to the target computer's MOHA config folder:
    "My Documents\EA Games\Medal of Honor Airborne(tm)\Config".

    IV. Running The Server
    ===========================================================================

    To run the server locally:

    1. Follow the instructions in "II. Local Server Setup".
    2. Run the dedicated server launcher (DSLauncher.exe).
    3. Open the config file you want to run if it is not already open.
    4. Press the 'Launch!' button.

    To run the server remotely:

    1. Follow the instructions in "III. Remote Server Setup".
    2. Run MOHAServer.exe with the config file as a parameter:
    MOHAServer.exe <config file name>
    e.g. MOHAServer.exe MyDedicatedServer.ini

    If you run MOHAServer.exe without any parameters, it will attempt to
    load the default config name: MOHADedicatedServer.ini.

    V. Administrating Remotely
    ===========================================================================

    Once connected, the dedicated server remote (DSRemote.exe) looks and
    functions identically to the dedicated server.

    To connect to a dedicated server remotely:

    1. Run DSRemote.exe.
    2. Enter the host name (IP address) of the sever.
    3. Enter the server's port and password as specified in the config file.
    4. If successful, the login dialog should disappear and "Remote
    connection accepted" will be printed.

    If you receive the "Connection failed." message, the host name or
    port number was invalid. You may receive this message even with
    correct values if the dedicated server has not yet initialized.

    If you receive the "Login failed." message, the connection was
    successful but your password was invalid.

    VI. Server Commands
    ===========================================================================

    These commands can be executed using either the dedicated server
    or the remote tool. Simply type your command in the text field
    at the bottom of the application and press the 'Execute' button;
    alternatively, press the enter key.

    Good news, although that's an awful lot of bugs discovered already for a game that's been out one week . . . a lot of that looks like very simple bugs that could have been discovered with some basic testing :suspect:

    Dedicated server options look good though!

    Yeah that's what I meant - especially for a game that was delayed for months, one would expect that such basic/obvious things would have been fixed long ago.

    I'm lousy at detecting things. I had no idea there were so many problems. Can'y say I encountered more than 2.

    In the balance/changes............. I tried the anti tank weapon in multi player. Couldn't kill anybody with it. They wanna reduce damage ?

    How's about a "Start game quick" and a "Leave game quick" patch. The intro does NOT need to be there, and you shouldn't have to wait for three screens to load to quit. We know what game we're playin. No need to constantly remind us.

    Hey MORONS ( ea )........... play COD2 to see what I mean !

    I still did not see any mention of just what the server "max player" might be...:suspect:

    For me thats the big one, other than that the game looks pretty good.

    We can mod the weapons, and add weapon paks and such, and mod for realism.

    Im not a ladder player, and loath the small servers.
    I have the most fun in large servers <32+> players, with lots of action.:bigrin:

    One quick question though.....who was the genius that thought the sniper rifle should have tracers?
    As a military man, I have never seen any use, nor application of tracer rounds for sniper rifles. (kinda defeats the purpose of the sniper...stealth.):cool:

    There is no talk about LInux servers because EA has not figured out a way for you to install the game on a Linux box... See mike's reply above me.

    Hell, there is still no mention of http redirect, which from what I'm told will come when / if the mod tools are released.

    they cant be serious about a high-end video card in a dedicated system. I think no-one has such a video card in a ds. And a dvd-drive...my dedi doesnt have a dvd drive :suspect:
    And why is the readme from august when they are working on it on the moment....september.
    And why do i want this game to become a succes but somehow my doubts are growing and growing...:(

    Serverlist Issues:

    * All servers showing 0 ping.
    * Double click on server dont work, or option
    isn't there.
    * If I join a server and a popop window appairs and says: Join Failed. The game was not found. What means it? The server is up and is showed..?
    * No option in serverlist to set "OA" or "ADM" gametype only. This option would be much usefull if there (hopefully) are more servers out there if the deticated server is released.
    * Scrolling through serverlist with mouse is not possible. Only via the scrolling buttons.

    Ingame:

    * It would be much more realistic if you had a stamina for running.
    * Typing a message ingame is showed to short.
    * The white market letters ( killed by.. ) are white in color and will looks weird if they becomes against a white sky.
    * Maximum 12 players is a shame.
    * Aiming switch automaticly back, it would be better to aim constantly and switch back with one mouse click.
    * Autolean is enoying, and a option would be nice if you can set leaning manually, as always in the mohaa series.
    * Punkbuster is spamming your screen full if someone connects to your server. It would be better if it just showing ( .... is prepairing for the battle, or something like that ). Just put that for console, not ingame.
    * All consoles have a VOIP. Why not the PC version. What is not supported with VOIP these days? It would be very handy, for example for a match or just for fun. A nice VOIP serveroption: Only your team can hear you. Everyone can hear you.
    * TAB scoreboard is a singleclick. Why changing that? It is just enoying.

    EA Accounts:

    * Login at EA account, remember me option. ( So you dont fill it over and over again.
    * Changing your nickname isn't possible. You need to live with a weird or auto generated 134DFE name in example, because your name is already in use. ( Common please and give a option to change your nickname, as in MOHPA ).

    I know, there are big and small issues, but all of them will ruin it. An example is MOHPA. There are more, I know. But please, EA support us in those issues. We have pay money for it and this game can be a GREAT game!

    And at least, why is GSA not supported, suddenly?

    I have an odd feeling that we are seeing PA part 2 developing here.

    MoH:pA - Excellent single player. Multiplayer includes adjectives not appropriate for these forums.

    MoH:A - Decent single player (could be better). Multiplayer yet to be determined.

    [begin rant]
    I would have hoped that EA had learned it's lesson with the PA MP disaster, fiasco, whatever. So far it seems like they have not.

    Who is this Patrick Gilmoure over there at EA?
    How does he still have a job?
    Did his parents ever let him play a video game online?

    Good ole Pat was responsible for PA, and is also responsible for Airborne.
    Forget about all the issues we have with the game.

    Time to look at the common denominator here, and that would be Patrick Gilmoure.

    +exec del PatrickGilmoure.cfg

    [end rant]

    MoH:AA - 2015 (Great game)
    MoH:SP - EA (not so great)
    MoH:BT - EA (even worse)
    MoH:pA - EA (somehow managed to go even lower)
    MoH:A - EA (yet to be determined)
