I can tell you 100% that even though youe low amount of RAM may be contributing to the problem, it is NOT the cause. I have 1.5gb of top quality RAM in my system and I still experience this problem. About the only think I have not tried is to increase my Hunkmegs. I have been thinking it seems like a Memory leak, but if it is then it is more than likley on the Programming side as opposed to the hardware. It also seems to occur on some servers much more than others even if they are running the same number of clients/game type/number of vehicles. This is what I am running just so you know it does not seem to be client side. P4 3.0 1.5gb PC3200 (dc mode) ATI 9800Pro 256 Seagate Barracuda 80GB Sata HD
Well.... I think the key is "some servers" because i have no problem with lag what so ever. And i dont even have a fancy vid card. My card is a Geforce4 Ti4200 125 MB.
I think it is odd that some experience lag and other see none at all. When I run lagometer, the bottom is ALWAYS green, but the top looks very similar to the pics posted above. I know for a fact that our server is not overloaded, it is running about 35% cpu usage and has 1.5GB of ram on a 100Mbps connection from The Planet.
Well, I'm not sure really. I reinstalled and played with default settings. So far there is no lag. Last night I bumped up the settings and still there was no lag. I can play for much longer before any lag sets in. So, I don't know if I fixed it or if I'm just getting lucky. That being said, I always experience lag at the beginnings of maps, however, I even had that problem w/ the original COD. p.s. I also defragged. That might've helped too.
Defrag helps alot. I used to not defrag, but i can really tell a difference now. I defrag approx. once a week.
