    Father's Day: US Server Special

    World of Tanks is a macho game for manly men! Some of these manly men have even sired offspring, making them, technically, fathers. In celebration of Father's Day this Sunday, we are recognizing the hard work and dedication necessary to being a good father by offering a special bonus to every player who has a father (yes, even the ladies!).

    Beginning with the June 17th server restart and all the way through June 21th, the first victory of each day, for each vehicle, will be worth 5x normal experience instead of the usual double normal experience.

    On top of that, since you've probably spent all of your savings buying something really nice for your father for this holiday, we're also slashing prices on all equipment by 50% for the duration.

    Note! Please be informed that there will be no confirmation message for 5x nomral experience gained.

    AVAILABLE ONLY ON US SERVER.

    Notes about US meds:

    The exchanging of the “T-23” and “M-26 Pershing” has been implemented in this manner.
    Variant 1.
    If the “T-23” tank has been researched but not in the players garage, the following changes were implemented:
    1. The cell for tier 8 medium tank was changed from ‘T-23” into “M-26 Pershing” in the USA tech tree
    2. Default modules of “T-23” tank were changed into the respective ones on the “M26 Pershing” in the USA tech tree if necessary, except for the default gun - it remained on the “T-23”
    3. If the AV-1790-1 engine was researched on the “T-23”, it would be unlocked on the “M-26 Pershing”, the same would go for the SCR528 radio (the AV-1790-2 will not be available in tier 8)
    4. If the T23B5180 turret was researched on the “T23”, the M26M67 turret in the “M26 Pershing’’ tank tree will become researched;
    5. If the VVSS T80 suspension was researched on the “T23”, the M26T81 suspension on the “M26 Pershing” tank tree will become researched;
    6. The guns research scheme and its current progress will be moved to the “M26 Pershing” tank tree from the “T23” without any changes, but the turret from the scheme is moved to the different branch, all guns should be mountable on both turrets, The 90 mm T15E2M2 gun is added to the scheme;
    7. The research cost for all modules in experience and their price in credits from the “T23” tank are saved for “M26 Pershing” tank. For example, to research the M26M67 turret that replaced the T23B5180 turret, you’ll have to spend the same amount of XP as it was for T23B5180
    8. All undistributed XP from “T23” tank passes to the “M26 Pershing” tank;
    9. All modules from the “T23” tank, which are not compatible with other tanks (turrets, suspension) and available in the player depot, are sold by their nominal purchase price, credits from this operation will be credited to the players account.
    10. All modules from the “T23” tank, which are compatible with the “M26 Pershing” tank (radio, engines, guns) are stored in the players depot, as well as all ammo for the above-mentioned guns.
    11. Every crew member in players barracks and/or on other vehicles with “T23” tank specialization is swapped to the ”M26 Pershing” tank specialization without any other changes and penalties.
    12. Player statistics for “T23” tank pass to the “M26 Pershing” tank without any losses or penalties and with preservation of all achievements.
    Variant 2
    If T23 was in the garage at the moment of the change and was researched, all stated in the Variant 1 takes place, along with:
    1. “Т23” tank is replaced by “M26 Pershing” saving all installed and researched modules - gun, engine and etc. In case of modules incompatibility, which has to be researched (for example, turret) they will be changed on the similar for the “M26 Pershing” tank.
    2. Ammo loaded on the tank is transferred to the depot;
    3. Consumables, mounted on the “T23” tank are moved to “M26 Pershing” tank;
    4. Equipment mounted on the “T23” tank is transferred to the depot without any losses for the player.
    5. The crew with additional qualifications on the “T23” is transferred to the “M26 Pershing”.

    The exchanging of the “M26 Pershing” and “M46 Patton” has been implemented in this manner.
    Variant 1.
    If the “M26 Pershing” tank has been researched but not in the player’s garage, the following changes were implemented:
    1. Medium tank “M26 Pershing” tank is changed to medium tank “M46 Patton’» tank in the US research tree;
    2. “M26 Pershing” tank stock modules are changed to the “M26 Pershing” tank stock modules in the research tree, if needed;
    3. If the AV-1790-1 and/or AV-1790-2 engines, as well as SCR528 Radio, are researched for the “M26 Pershing» tank, they will become researched for the “M46 Patton”;
    4. If the M26M67 turret on the “M26 Pershing” tank is researched the M46m67 turret on the “M46 Patton»”will become researched;
    5. The M26T81 motor on the “M26 Pershing” tank tech tree is changed to the M46T81 motor in “M46 Patton” tank;
    6. Gun research scheme and current researches are transferred from the ”M26 Pershing” tank to the “M46 Patton” tank with no changes, The M36 gun is added;
    7. Module research costs and their credit price in the store for the “M46 Patton” tank stay the same as for the “M26 Pershing”. I.e. the same amount of experience is needed to research M46M67 turret, which has changed to the M26M67 turret. The same amount of credits is needed for the purchase of M46M67 in the store as for the turret M26M67;
    8. All the experience is transferred to M46 Patton;
    9. All modules from the “M26 Pershing” tank, which are not compatible with other tanks (turrets, suspension) and available in the player depot, are sold for their nominal purchase price, credits from this transaction will be credited to the players account. Modules of the ‘old’ Pershing are not compatible with ‘new’ Pershing and should be sold.
    10. All modules from the “M26 Pershing” tank which are compatible with the “M46 Patton” tank (radio, engines, and guns) are stored in the player’s depot, as well as all ammo for the above-mentioned guns.
    11. Every crew member in player’s barracks and/or on other vehicles with the “M26 Pershing” specialization is swapped to the “M46 Patton” specialization without any other changes and penalties.
    12. Player statistics for the “M26 Pershing” tank pass to the “M46 Patton” tank without any losses or penalties and with preservation of all achievements.
    Variant 2.
    If the “M26 Pershing” was in the garage at the moment of the change and was researched, all stated in the Variant 1 takes place, along with:
    1. The “M26 Pershing” tank is replaced by the “M46 Patton” tank with preservation of all mounted modules (guns, radio, and engine). In case of researchable modules being incompatible (for example, turret), they will be replaced with similar for the “M46 Patton”.
    2. All ammo, loaded on the”M26 Pershing” tank, is moved to player’s depot.
    3. Consumables, installed on the “M26 Pershing” tank, are moved to “M46 Patton” tank;
    4. All additional equipment installed on the “M26 Pershing” tank, are moved to the player’s depot without any losses for the player.

    Latest news on v6.6 is Russian sever may have it as early as tomorrow. This should be followed shortly (ie a few days) on the Euro/N. American server. Here is a video of the new German tanks that will be added in this patch. Most are failed Porsche prototypes or the E Series which were strictly on paper except a E-100 hull was built. The Skoda light and medium tanks are premium. The new map is supposed to be inspired by the Siegfried Line.

    I'll be getting the Tiger P myself.

    Preliminary patch notes of v.7.0 update planned for release in November:
    1) New maps added: Marsh and Fjords;

    2) Various features:

    • It's a common knowledge that World of Tanks has three main servers: North American, European and Russian, with each of them using one game cluster. The multicluster technology would allow to add one or several clusters to each server. Using a unified account on a certain server, a player will have the opportunity to play on any cluster of the server. The described option will be introduced with v.7.0 update; the additional clusters will be added later as required. Use of several clusters per a server would enable the following opportunities:
    - The maximal possible number of active server players will be increased significantly (the players will be allocated on several clusters);
    - The players will have the opportunity to choose the cluster with optimal in-game comfort (for example, a cluster with better connection and minimal loading time);
    - Players will be able to switch to another cluster for the new challenge;
    - In case of maintenance works, it will be possible to go to an available game cluster.
    You can read more about the multicluster technology here.

    • Tank customization: camo and horns:
    Camo. The change of tank coloring. The main difference of camo from skins, created by users, is that the camo would be seen by other players in the battle.
    Camoes will be purchased for credits for a certain period of time (for a day and for up to a month), and for Gold for the unlimited period of time.
    You can also buy an additional type of camo for Gold: the adaptive camo, which will be introduced as a special consumable in the store. The adaptive camo will "repaint" the tank into the relevant battle map colors. Additionally, the tank will get a special bonus to in-game invisibility.
    The horns function will be described furtherly.

    • Tank company levels:
    Along with the present battle mode, which will be called Absolute, new divisions of tank company battles will be introduced: Junior (tier 4 is maximal), Medium (tier 6 is maximal) and Champion (tier 8 is maximal). Each of them will have the tank company points limit, and the limitation for tank tiers (first of all, for tiers of SPGs and light tanks). At the moment we're perfecting the tank company divisions balance, which will establish the best formulae of "points/tiers" possible. The names of divisions are considered and are subject to change.

    • Sizing and other minimap options:
    The update will introduce the opportunity of hiding/showing the minimap or changing its size and transparency by pressing hot keys. Besides that, the minimap will display players, who send special signs (asking for help, and etc.).

    • The complaint system:
    During the battle, if you click with the right mouse button on a player's nickname, you will see the special tag "Complain" in the context menu. Any player can complain several times a day on other players. There will be several reasons for complaining denoted in the menu: insult, provocation, unsportsmanlike conduct, team damage, bot conducting. The complaints will be sent to User Support automatically.

    • Logos:
    The tankers will have opportunity to place logos on their tanks; the option is acquired for Gold. The logos will be situated on the hull and turret sides of a tank. Players will place clan logos (if they are in a clan) on the tank, or one of the logos, given in a special list, which will be constantly extended and updated.

    • War mist on Global map:
    At the beginning of a battle, the team won't see the number and names of enemy vehicles. The enemy tanks will appear only when detected by teammates.

    • Destroyed tanks freezing on Global map:
    Any tank, destroyed on Global map, will be detained from Ultimate Conquest battles for a certain period of time, depending on the tank type and tier. But you'll still be able to partake in other battle modes with no restrictions: in random battles, in tank companies, in championships and tournaments.

    • Tanker skills reset option acquired for Gold:
    Due to the fact that new crew skills will be implemented into the game soon, players will be able to reset any amount of already explored skills for Gold. The free "training points" of the resetted skill can be spent on training of any other skill.

    • Extended support of Logitech keyboards and Alienware laptops.
    • Advanced visual effects:
    The new system of effects visualisation will improve the quality of visual effects significantly (smoke, shots, explosions) and will allow to lower system requirements for PCs.

    French tanks will be introduced a bit later, with the v.7.1 update, which is planned for release in the end of 2011.

    Some more notes about next patch which is due in about 3 weeks.

    Massive Hitbox Overhaul

    Nearly 30 vehicles (Tiger, VK 3002 DB, IS-3, IS-7) will get their hitboxes changed to ensure more accurate damaging mechanics. Tiger tank will finally get more detailed armor layout featuring 16 groups and benefit from skirt armor.

    Map Debugging

    Seems that we haven't done away with them so far, but this is definitely step in the right direction. It is going to be much more difficult to get stuck now.

    Multi-cluster technology

    It might not bring noticeable changes especially for EU and US players at the time of its introduction. But it is going to be extremely useful in two ways:

    • it will help us cope with overload of RU server (in peak times it has more than 235k players) allocating the load between several independent servers within RU region
    • the feature has really great potential and it would be impossible to merge clan wars or enable account transfers without it

    Customize it!

    The camos announced as a a part of vehicle customization functionality long time ago finally arrives in 7.0 (there will be lots of screenies in the days to come). As for horns, we are still thinking of them. :)

    Tiered Companies

    Instead of one single company battle mode (10/90), we are getting 4 - 4/45, 6/50, 8/90, and 10/150 (where 10 - max vehicle tier, 150 - max team tier points).

    There will be separate restrictions on light tanks and SPGs. E.g. for 4/45 submode it is planned to restrict both SPGs and LTs to tier 3.

    Report it!

    Being harassed in-game or noticed some unfair play? RMB click on required player in team list, choose complaint type, and submit it! Customer support will see to it ASAP.

    Mini-map v.2.0

    Highly anticipated improvements, no doubt. It will be possible to scale the mini-map, toggle it on/off in battle, adjust its transparency, and we also added markers for Help!, Follow me! and Attacking! commands.

    Tracers, anyone?

    They are back, however not exactly the way they used to work.

    • for LTs, MTs, HTs, TDs: tracers will be shown within 25 deg / 445 sector in the direction of the gun
    • for SPGs: tracers will be shown for tanks that are within view range in howitzer mode
    For sure we would like to reintroduce 100% tracer effects, however safety and fair play are even of major importance. So as to combat cheating, we have to bring them back this way.

    Don't rage quit!

    If you leave the battle before it ends (and your vehicle is safe and sound), it will be locked until the end of the battle, giving your enemies chance for easy kill (exp/credits). If somehow it makes to the end of the battle, the tank will be blown up automatically. Full repair costs, yes. :)

    Balance Above All

    They will be many balance adjustments in the upcoming update, the detailed patch notes will arrive upon the public release. Now I'm going to stop on a few curious things.

    • T-44 is getting LB-1 gun (for 2nd turret) with the same specs as of T-54 barring RoF (slight decrease). This is aimed at bringing the tank on a par with the other tier 8 MTs (God help my poor M26 :( ).
    • Conical gun will be nerfed on VK3601H, Tiger is getting this gun as it is now.
    • Changed shells for 8.8 L/71 gun. Yes, damage increase is planned. However the current DPM will be retained.
    • IS-3 is getting a new turret for stock setup, the existing stock turret goes to top setup. T-10 turret is reserved for future. :)

    Graphics

    New special effects including shots, hits, explosions are coming to provide better visualization. In addition to it we are introducing in-game colour-blind mod and option to disable smoke effects to ensure smoother performance.

    More details will come in the weeks ahead.

    We've hit them hard!

    There will be changes to penetration mechanics. First of, we are reducing the normalization parameter of AP and APCR shells, therefore the effectiveness of sloped armor will see an increase.
    Also the new mechanics for HE will be in place (defining the spot with the thinnest armor to burn through), ensuring more realistic and credible penetration and damaging.

    Currently the French tanks are being testing in the Russian test server for the next update. It seems they have been talking about them for a year now, but supposedly next month the first part of the French line (lights, mediums and heavies) are added.

    You'd be surprised about how well the armor is on these tanks. Plus, they developed a revolver type loading system so they could get multiple shots off rather quickly.

    Granted most of these will be post war designs as development stopped after the occupation, but at the time the French were rather advanced in tank development.

    I know, I'm surprised you didn't mention they have 1 forward gear and 7 reverse. Or the fact they have a target painted on them.
